The next installment into the AMITYVILLE film series has been in the works for a long while now. Under the title AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING, and with director Frankc Khalfoun steering the wheel, things were moving along nicely. A very promising official trailer hit the scene and a release date was made. Now it looks as it things have changed.
We have now learned that Dimension Films has officially removed AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING as well as the James Wan attached film DEMONIC from their current release schedule.
This of course does not mean that these films will not see release. A number of reasons could be the cause for the delays. It does come as a surprise pertaining to AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING as it has had quite the hype going on.
AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING was set to be released in January while DEMONIC was set to be released in December.
AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING follows the story of a single mother (Jennifer Jason Leigh) who moves her three children (Cameron Monaghan, Bella Thorne and McKenna Grace) into the Amityville house where they soon begin to learn of it's dark history. One of the kids, a teenager played by Monaghan, ends up bed ridden and in a coma like state. Little does the family know that their new home has wicked plans for him. Additional cast members include Kurtwood Smith, Thomas Mann and Taylor Spreitler.
