A few month's ago we brought you the big news that Lionsgate and Millennium Films to bring us a new TEXAS CHAINSAW film which would simply be titled LEATHERFACE. It is set to be a prequel and is indeed in the works. The official plot details are tight lipped but it is said that it will be serving as an origin story that follows Leatherface's early years in the 1970's.
As far as a director goes Millennium Films has been in talks with some directors over the past few weeks, and it appears that they are curious about using a pair of them. Word is that Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo are looking to be the main choice at this point. This due is responsible for INSIDE, and the upcoming AMONG THE LIVING.
Another double director set that Millennium Films has in mind for the position are Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer who are responsible for the independent STARRY EYES, which has gained positive buzz from fans. We will keep you updated on if anything is decided on who will be directing.
Seth M. Sherwood has been hired on to write the prequel to the original 1974 horror classic. Millennium Films is financing the project and producing the LEATHERFACE movie will be Carl Mazzocone, along with Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman as executive producers.
Production could begin as early as this winter.
