he 1976 Richard Donner film THE OMEN captivated audiences with the clever ways in which it showed the wickedness working through the Anti-Christ in the form of the child Damien. To this day it stands tall within the current generation and is held in very high regard. Then back in 2006 a remake of the classic hit the scene in John Moore's THE OMEN which saw a some success financially and earned mixed reactions from fans across the world.
Now Damien Thorn once again will be returning as we learned back in August this time on television on the a show titled DAMIEN. The Lifetime Network's upcoming follow up series will be based on the classic Horror film, and will see Damien grown up and following him as he comes to grips with the fact that he is the Antichrist.
We have now learned that Bradley James, who portrayed Arthur Pendragon in the popular television show MERLIN, will be taking on the titular role of Damien.
We have also learned that Shekhar Kapur will be directing as well as executive producing the first episode of DAMIEN. Former THE WALKING DEAD showrunner Glen Mazzara is responsible for writing the six episode series DAMIEN. He is also executive producing as well.
“Produced by Fox Television Studios and based on Twentieth Century Fox’s classic horror film, The Omen, the series follows the adult life of Damien Thorn, the mysterious child from the 1976 motion picture who has grown up, seemingly unaware of the satanic forces around him. Haunted by his past, Damien must now come to terms with his true destiny — that he is the Antichrist, the most feared man throughout the ages.”
The first episode of DAMIEN is expected to premiere early next year on Lifetime.
