NIGHTMARE CITY Will Be Remade - Tom Savini To Direct!

Tom Savini, the King of Splatter and Gore, is now attached to direct a remake of the 1980 classic zombie flick by Umberto Lenzi, NIGHTMARE CITY. The film is also known as CITY OF THE WALKING DEAD, which shouldn’t be confused with Lucio Fulci’s 1980 classic CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD. The film is currently in development as they are going with the fundraising route to get the film made much like Rob Zombie is doing with 31.

Tom Savini will not only direct the remake, he will also be Special Effects & Makeup Supervisor and actor. The director of the cult original himself, the Italian maestro of horror, Umberto Lenzi, will be associate producer of the remake.

Here is the original synopsis:

"An airplane exposed to radiation lands, and blood drinking zombies emerge armed with knives, guns and teeth! They go on a rampage slicing, dicing, and biting their way across the Italian countryside."
