Near the end of last year we broke the news of rumors going around about a very HUSH HUSH new Power Rangers project. It was said to be a more adult driven show packed with loads of action/adventure and would be taking place twenty years later. We have learned that music video director Joseph Kahn has revealed that the $500,000.00 twenty-two minute pilot episode which was shot has now been turned into a supposed "fan film."
Apparently this new Power Rangers television show idea took things a little bit too far as it was going in the R-rated direction. Basically the producers got cold feet, pulled the plug, and went into damage control!
This "fan film" is made up of the scrapped pilot episode footage which stars Katee Sackoff (Starbuck from BATTLESTAR GALLACTICA, RIDDICK) and James Van Der Beek (Dawson from DAWSON'S CREEK). So what once was going to be a new Power Rangers television show is now a well produced fourteen minute "fan film." There is a PG-13 version and an R version. Who films two versions of a fan film?
