Big News: Fox To Remake THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW Into A TV Special!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

It looks like world famous THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW is gearing up to be remade. That's right, as the 40th Anniversary approaches, Fox TV is responsible for this new idea which will air as a 2 hour event special which will be directed by Kenny Ortega of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL fame. He will also serve as executive producer, and be choreographing the project as well. Gail Berman and Lou Adler, who produced the 1975 original will be returning as producers. As of now the TV special is loosely titled THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW EVENT and said to be a reimagining of the campy Horror feature film.

This television revamp is said to stick to the flavor of the original, such as dialogue and the score. Only time will tell as to what it all will exactly look and sound like. Reports say that the special will not be a live broadcast but rather filmed ahead of time.

There are no casting details as of now. Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, Meat Loaf and O'Brien all starred in the 1975 feature film version.

"On the way to visit an old college professor, the two clean-cut kids, Brad Majors (Barry Bostwick) and his fiancee Janet Weiss (Susan Sarandon), run into tire trouble and seek help at the site of a light down the road. It's coming from "the Frankenstein place," where Dr. Frank N Furter (Tim Curry), a transvestite from the planet Transexual in the galaxy of Transylvania, is in the midst of one of his maniacal experiments -- he's created the perfect man, a rippling piece of beefcake christened Rocky Horror (Peter Hinwood), and intends to put him to good use (his own) in his kinky household retinue, presided over by a hunchback henchman named Riff Raff (Richard O'Brien) and his incestuous sister Magenta (Patricia Quinn), and assisted by a tap dancing groupie-in-residence, Columbia (Little Nell)."

Fox is aiming to air THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW EVENT around the mid August Anniversary. There are currently no further details available, but we will continue to bring you more as it all unfolds.
