Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.
SCREAM is one of those stories where Horror and fun come together as one. A perfect blend that is not easily created out of thin air. Ghostface is a brilliant killer as the mask or masks could be worn by anyone which adds the mystery element to it all. Back in October we learned that MTV’s SCREAM adaptation would not be using the iconic Ghostface mask but rather MTV would be creating a new mask that is said to be inspired by the Edvard Munch painting, and will have a darker, more organic feel to it. The very first teaser video for MTV's SCREAM has arrived and it is super short in length. In fact, it is one of the shortest teasers ever made. Head on down below to check it out.
Back in November, MTV’s senior vice president and head of scripted development Mina Lefevre, had this to say about the new mask:
“It’s a darker, almost more grounded, evolved version of the mask. It’s something we’re constantly talking about. How did that mask become that mask? What’s its purpose? How did it evolve? If the Scream movie mask was the more plastic version, for a lack of a better description, this one is a more organic looking and frankly darker version.”
“Scream was incredibly iconic, but we wanted to reinvent that for TV while of course keeping all the main elements that made it so iconic, including a mask, but also the soapy teen stories, pop culture humor, the scares and the killer,” she says. “We’re tonally walking that line, yet delivering the scares in a significant way. The mask was a big discussion creatively. We wanted to get a nod and a wink to what the original was, but we definitely wanted to make it more on par with what horror is now, which is darker.”
The MTV Scream series will center around a Youtube viral video that has gone wrong, leading to consequences which leads to murder which leads to the town's terrible past.
Willa Fitzgerald, Taylor-Klaus, Bobby Campo, Connor Weil and Joel Gretsch are set to star.
As shown in the quick video, a sneak peek of the show is set to air during tonight's MTV Movie Awards.
SCREAM the series comes to television June 30th on MTV.
