Major News Regarding IT Remake - Stephen King Comments Within!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

Last year the announcement was made that another adaptation of Stephen King's IT would be created, first being aligned with Warner Bros. then moving over to New Line. Director Cary Fukunaga went on a seemingly impossible mission which was to find the new Pennywise for the planned two film project. Just a few weeks ago it was revealed that Fukunaga had found his choice for the killer clown in actor Will Poulter. Today comes some ground shaking news.

With principal photography for the IT remake set to begin in June, we have now learned the shocking news that director Cary Fukunaga has officially dropped out of the project. THR reports that Fukunaga's leaving had to do with creative differences as well as issues with the budget for the planned features.

Stephen King has offered his thoughts on the news via Twitter:

At this point in time things are very uncertain as to how Fukunaga's departure will effect the IT remake.

Fukunaga penned the screenplay for the project with Chase Palmer and David Kajganich, who was attached to produce along with Dan Lin, David Katzenberg, Doug Davison and Seth Grahame-Smith.

The book was previously adapted by Tommy Lee Wallace as a 1990 two part, three hour event miniseries on ABC, starring Tim Curry as Pennywise.

Synopsis for IT:

"It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real… They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But none of them can withstand the force that has drawn them back to Derry to face the nightmare without an end, and the evil without a name."

We will continue to keep you updated on the IT remake project as we hear it.
