2014's OUIJA follows a group of friends who must confront their most terrifying fears when they awaken the dark powers of an ancient spirit board. The film was not a critical hit, but it made over $100 million from $5 million budget so that naturally means a sequel is coming.
We have learned that the director of OCULUS, Mike Flanagan will be helming OUIJA 2 for Universal and Blumhouse. In addition Annalise Basso has been cast as one of the lead roles.
Basso portrayed a young version of the main character Kaylie Russell in OCULUS, so she and Flanagan working together again makes sense. She will be portraying a young character grieving over the death of her father. Jeff Howard is co-writng the story with Flanagan. The duo also have a reboot of I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER on their agenda.
Jason Blum produces along with Hasbro's Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis. Also producing are Platinum Dunes' Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.
OUIJA 2 currently has a release date of October 21st 2016.
