Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.
THE PURGE films have really caught on to something it would appear. The idea of having the right to go and commit consequence free crime at free will once a year is enough to grab most anyone's attention. Back in October we learned that Universal, Platinum Dunes, and Blumhouse had already started the development for a third film in the franchise.
Not too long ago we learned the news that Frank Grillo will be returning to reprise his role as Sergeant Leo Barnes for THE PURGE 3.
Edwin Hodge, who had a solid part in the original film and who also made a small cameo in the second film will once again be returning.
We have learned who some new faces are that will be joining Grillo and Hodge. The names include Betty Gabriel, Kyle Secor, JJ Soria, Mykelti Williamson, and Elizabeth Mitchell.
In an interview with Collider, Grillo offered some major insight into the next film as well as what his character will be up to saying:
“You get to see where he came from, his origin, how this has affected him, and what he does to make some changes about it. He was involved in law enforcement at a high level, and he gets involved with somebody else who’s also politically charged, and they go after the system. It’s really interesting. It’s like a really good old school B-movie, like Death Wish, or one of those Clint Eastwood westerns. It’s that kind of thing.”
James DeMonaco, who wrote and directed the first two films will once again be returning to write and direct this one.
THE PURGE 3 currently has a release date of July 1, 2016.
