Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

A thrilling landmark film that jolts along at a breakneck pace, 1981's ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK leapt to cult status with lots of action, edge of your seat suspense and a mind blowing vision of lone warrior Snake Plissken battling his way out of a post apocalyptic Manhattan.

There has been an ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK remake being talked about for many years now. We last heard news of this project back in January and today we learn that it is still moving forward.

We have learned that MAMA scribe Neil Cross has been selected to write the script for ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK.

With Fox gaining the rights to remake ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, the plan is for them to expand the newly acquired property into a multi-film series. According to THR they are aiming to have a successful franchise much like PLANET OF THE APES.

John Carpenter will indeed be offering his creative input as he is set to executive produce the project. Mike Ireland from Fox will oversee the development of the remake.

The film is still in the early stages of development, with no director attached just yet. Some time ago Charlie Hunnam and Chris Hemsworth were both rumored to take on the iconic role of Snake Plissken, but no one has been cast in that role as of now.

We will continue to bring you more on the ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK remake as it unfolds.
