A third film went into production earlier on this year which will be a sequel titled RINGS. It is being directed by F. Javier Gutierrez and the story is set 13 years after the events of the 2002 film.

In an update we have now learned that RINGS has now secured an official release date for April Fool's Day 2016.
RINGS will star Italian actress Matilda Lutz and now we have learned that actor Alex Roe has been cast in the male lead. Roe's character Holt is the boyfriend to Lutz's character and becomes distant from her after watching the tape. Johnny Galecki will portray Gabriel who is a handsome, pleasure-seeking professor. Also joining the cast is Aimee Teegarden in an unknown role.
