Major News Regarding HALLOWEEN RETURNS!

The exciting news was made known to the world back in June that a re-calibrated HALLOWEEN installment was officially in the works. The film would simply be titled HALLOWEEN RETURNS and was set to be directed by Marcus Dunstan. He along with Patrick Melton would make up the writing duo in charge of the script. Things are changing.

Here was the previous planned synopsis:

"HALLOWEEN RETURNS will pit a new group of Haddonfield youngsters against Myers. The now 18-year-old child of one of Myers’ victims plays a central role along with the child of a cop who has long been obsessed with Myers’ case, even putting it before his own daughter.

Myers is now on Death Row and the two kids with their own personal vendettas against the killer sneak in to watch his execution. But when things go awry and Myers escapes, the pair, along with their friends, find themselves in the firing line."

However this story idea is no longer the case as we recently learned from Malek Akkad that this version of HALLOWEEN RETURNS had been delayed while they try to figure things out. With no concrete reasons given, it left us scratching our heads.

Now some big news comes in regarding the current state of the project as Akkad recently spoke with Blumhouse.com saying:

"HALLOWEEN RETURNS, although there was a big announcement made this summer, and fans are excited to hear more about that, we’re actually still fine tuning that, believe it or not. It’s not going to be quite what was announced with the synopsis and potentially even the people involved. We’re sort of starting from scratch, which is not unusual when you’re dealing with studios and contracts and that stuff. While we were kind of gearing up and were ready to go, we’re now taking a step back and bringing in potential new people and partners in development."

It appears to be a back to the drawing board type of situation with a fresh take on the horizon once again for the project. We will certainly continue to bring you the very latest on HALLOWEEN RETURNS as we hear it.
