Huge News: George A. Romero's EMPIRE OF THE DEAD Is Coming To AMC!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

Television has become a warm and inviting home for Horror in the modern day. With shows like THE WALKING DEAD and AMERICAN HORROR STORY gaining mega media attention, more Terror based projects are popping up all of the time.

Not long ago we brought you the news that George Romero’s EMPIRE OF THE DEAD comic book series, which is published by Marvel Comics, was being adapted to television. It appears that EMPIRE OF THE DEAD could be heading to AMC.

Arthur Suydam, who is an artist for EMPIRE OF THE DEAD, did an interview at the Louisville Wizard World Comic Con announcing that the comic series will be heading to AMC telling WHAS11:

"The series I just finished up for Marvel Comics as a matter of fact, so this is me and George Romero, and this just got signed by AMC. So it's going to be the next big zombie series on AMC."

We previously reported that the EMPIRE OF THE DEAD television project adaptation would be written by Romero and writing partner Peter Grunwald. Both serving as executive producers, alongside Demarest’s Sam Englebardt and William D. Johnson.

Here is the description for the comic:

"Welcome to New York City years after the undead plague has erupted — but just because Manhattan has been quarantined, don't think that everyone inside is safe! Not only do flesh-eaters roam within Manhattan, but there's another ancient predator about to take a bite out of the Big Apple!"

A fun element about the comic is that it not only deals with zombies but vampires as well.

**UPDATE** According to Yahoo, they received word from an AMC representitive who denied that George A. Romero’s EMPIRE OF THE DEAD would be heading to AMC, adding that the quote from Suydam is “totally erroneous.”

We will continue to bring you more on the EMPIRE OF THE DEAD series situation as it unfolds.
