Back in 2014, a project was announced that carried the title of VALENCIA. Some time passed on and then it was retitled with the name of THE CELLAR. The film had Dan Trachtenberg signed on as director for Paramount and JJ Abram's production company Bad Robot.
The story was written by Josh Campbell, Matt Stuecken, and Damien Chazelle carrying the concept:
"The majority of the movie takes place in an underground cellar, and revolves around a young woman who wakes up in the cellar after a severe car accident and fears she has been abducted. Her captor, a doomsday prepper, tells her he saved her life and that there has been a terrible chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable. She does not know what to believe and as tensions rise, she decides she must escape, regardless of the terrors that await outside."
Cast in the role of the doomsday prepper was John Goodman and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as his captive. John Gallagher Jr. was also cast in an unspecified role.
There is a trailer for THE CELLAR that comes along with this weekend's release of Michael Bay's 13 HOURS: THE SECRET SOLDIERS OF BENGHAZ. As we come to the ending of the trailer the revelation takes place that this film is not just a movie which will stand on it's own, but is in fact a "blood relative" as JJ Abrams puts it, to his 2008 produced creature feature CLOVERFIELD. Surprise, the film is no longer titled THE CELLAR but in fact called 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE.
It is remarkable that such a feat be kept quite so close to it's release date which is coming up in March.
Here is the official trailer for 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE.
10 CLOVERFIELD LANE will be in theaters this March 11th.
