We learned last year that THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW was preparing to be remade. Fox TV is responsible for this new idea which will air as a 2 hour event special and will be directed by Kenny Ortega of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL fame. He will also serve as executive producer, and be choreographing the project as well. Gail Berman and Lou Adler, who produced the 1975 original will be returning as producers.
This television revamp is said to stick to the flavor of the original, such as dialogue and the score.
With a cast that is shaping up, big news comes in as Tim Curry, the original Dr. Frank-N-Furter, has officially been announced to join in on the fun with a minor role this time playing the part of the Criminologist, who narrated in the film.
Joining Curry in the reboot of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW are Laverne Cox as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Victoria Justice as Janet, Ryan McCartan as Brad, Reeve Carney as Riff Raff, Adam Lambert as Eddie, and Staz Nair as Rocky.
"On the way to visit an old college professor, the two clean-cut kids, Brad Majors and his fiancee Janet Weiss, run into tire trouble and seek help at the site of a light down the road. It's coming from "the Frankenstein place," where Dr. Frank N Furter, a transvestite from the planet Transexual in the galaxy of Transylvania, is in the midst of one of his maniacal experiments -- he's created the perfect man, a rippling piece of beefcake christened Rocky Horror, and intends to put him to good use (his own) in his kinky household retinue, presided over by a hunchback henchman named Riff Raff and his incestuous sister Magenta, and assisted by a tap dancing groupie-in-residence, Columbia."
THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW is expected to air in the fall of 2016 on Fox.
