Details On A Major New Character Set To Debut On THE WALKING DEAD!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

With everyone bracing themselves for the arrival of Jeffery Dean Morgan's portrayal of Negan when THE WALKING DEAD returns to television next month, it is easy to overlook another major character who will be making the transition from comic book to the small screen.

Last year it was announced that Tom Payne was cast as the character of Paul "Jesus" Monroe, who in the comics is basically a an unstoppable bearded ninja. Coming from the Hilltop community he serves as a right hand man for Rick and Maggie.

THE WALKING DEAD creator Robert Kirkman spoke with EW saying:

"At this point in the life of the series, my thought is the apocalypse has been going on for so long, the people you encounter in your day-to-day life have to be extremely skilled. And they’ve been surviving for a reason, whether they were at a place like Alexandria that’s very safe, or they’re a great leader of their group and somewhat sadistic but in control of their group like Negan, or someone who’s an absolute, complete badass like Jesus.”

Kirkman adds:

"He’s smart, quick, very athletic. He’s kinda been surviving on his feet. He’s going to be bringing a lot to the show. There’s some cool stuff coming with him.”

It will be interesting to see how Jesus will play into the story. He will no doubt make quite the impact the show. He made his first appearance in issue #91 of the comic book series.

Season 6 of THE WALKING DEAD will resume on Sunday February 14th on AMC.
