The idea of if you watch a certain cursed video tape that a creepy long haired ghost girl will come after you to take your life is quite unsettling. 2002 saw the release of THE RING and with it's success it spawned a sequel in 2005 titled THE RING TWO.
A third film went into production last year which will be a sequel titled RINGS. It is being directed by F. Javier Gutierrez and the story is set 13 years after the events of the 2002 film. The movie is executive produced by Guillermo del Toro.
RINGS has had some shifting with it's release dates. Originally scheduled for last year, the film has had yet another change in plans. RINGS will no longer be releasing on it's new release date of April 1st as Paramount has now pushed the date for release back to October 28th, 2016.
RINGS will star Italian actress Matilda Lutz and now we have learned that actor Alex Roe has been cast in the male lead. Roe's character Holt is the boyfriend to Lutz's character and becomes distant from her after watching the tape. Johnny Galecki will portray Gabriel who is a handsome, pleasure-seeking professor. Also joining the cast is Aimee Teegarden in an unknown role.
Akiva Goldsman, David Loucka and Jacon Aaron Estes wrote the script which is based on the 1991 novel by Koji Suzuki. Laurie MacDonald and Walter Parkes are producing.
Remember to mark it down on your calendars, RINGS is now coming to theaters October 28th.
