Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.
Quite some time ago the announcement was made that another adaptation of Stephen King's IT would be created, first being aligned with Warner Bros. then moving over to New Line. Then came the news that director Cary Fukunaga, who was previously set to direct, officially dropped out of the planned two film project leaving the future of the IT remake in question.
Then the producers of the IT project Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg landed on their new choice in director Andy Muschietti (MAMA) to steer the ship.
We have just learned that Warner Bros. has given the project an official release date of September 8th, 2017.
IT is scheduled to film in Toronto for the entire summer.
No details have been revealed as of yet for Muschietti's take on the material. There is also no casting news at this time. Will Poulter was previously attached to portray Fukunaga's version of Pennywise, but it is not known if the actor will still be the Evil clown in Muschietti's version. We will begin to hear news on this soon as filming is set to begin not very long from now.
The latest word was that the project was going to still be two separate films. One point of view being from the kids and the other film being that of the adults. Producer Roy Lee previously stated that an R-rating was to be the goal.
The book was adapted by Tommy Lee Wallace as a 1990 two part, three hour event miniseries on ABC, starring Tim Curry as Pennywise.
Original Synopsis for IT:
"It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real… They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But none of them can withstand the force that has drawn them back to Derry to face the nightmare without an end, and the evil without a name."
Remember to mark September 8th, 2017 on your calendar as this is the official release date of the new adaptation of Stephen King's IT.
We will continue to keep you updated on the IT remake project as we hear it.
