Lara Croft, is arguably the second most famous fictional archaeologist behind only Indiana Jones. She was the creation of the 1996 hit video game "Tomb Raider." Two feature films followed in 2001 and 2003 with Angelina Jolie taking on the titular role.
For quite a while now there have been many rumors surrounding the upcoming reboot of TOMB RAIDER, with one rumor being that STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS star Daisy Ridley could be the next Laura Croft. We have learned that this is not the case.
MGM and Warner Bros. have revealed that the Laura Croft will be played by Alicia Vikander.
Vikander starred in the sci-fi film EX MACHINA and also won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in THE DANISH GIRL. She will also be appearing in the upcoming JASON BOURNE movie.
As for the TOMB RAIDER reboot, there are no plot details as of yet but the film will cover "a young and untested Lara Croft fighting to survive her first adventure."
The reboot will be directed by Roar Uthaug and co-produced MGM and Warner Bros.
