The new adaptation of Stephen King's IT has been in the works for a while now. The plan for the project is for it to be presented in two separate films which is being produced by Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg.
MAMA director Andy Muschietti was hired on to helm this new adaptation of Stephen King's IT. With filming now underway the director recently posted some images on set via his Instagram, one of which is a drawing of a scary clown. Could this be the new look of Pennywise that they are going for?
The current cast for the new IT adaptation is made up of Nicholas Hamilton, Sophia Lillis, Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Owen Teague, Jeremy Ray Taylor and Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise the Clown.
With the new IT project being planned as two separate films, we can expect to see the point of view from the kids in one film and the other film being that of the adults. Producer Roy Lee previously stated that an R-rating was to be the goal.
The book was previously adapted by Tommy Lee Wallace as a 1990 two part, three hour event miniseries on ABC, starring Tim Curry as Pennywise.
Original Synopsis for IT:
"It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real… They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But none of them can withstand the force that has drawn them back to Derry to face the nightmare without an end, and the evil without a name."
Remember to mark September 8th, 2017 on your calendar as this is the official release date for Part 1 of the new adaptation of Stephen King's IT.
