Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.
Back in 2008, the home invasion Horror film THE STRANGERS hit the scene and caused quite the impact among the Horror community. With great success, a sequel was quickly being prepared to launch back in 2009 with Laurent Briet directing a screenplay written by Bryan Bertino. As you all know that idea never came into fruition.
Then back in January of 2015 there was news on the possible sequel once again as we learned that it was being revived this time with a new director, Marcel Langenegger, and Ben Ketai coming in to revise the script. Almost one year after that, Relativity Studios announced a release date for THE STRANGERS 2 on December 2nd, 2016.
Now that this release date is almost upon us, it appears that THE STRANGERS 2 will not be making it it in time.
Adrienne Biddie, who is Bertino's frequent producer recently spoke with Rue Morgue and while talking about their newest project THE MONSTER, he provided an update on the status of THE STRANGERS 2 saying:
"Bryan and I and our company are not attached to the project at this point. He wrote the original script, which I will say is a fantastic piece of writing, but he was never going to direct it, and it’s in Relativity Media’s hands following the sale of Rogue to Relativity. With all the troubles they’ve had, I don’t know if it’s going to happen. If they can get their financial act together, maybe, but it has almost happened two or three or four times over the last five or six years, so I’ll believe it when it see it."
It appears as though THE STRANGERS 2 is certainly not going to be happening any time soon.
Here is the plot from the script that was planned:
"After financial troubles force them to move out of their house, a family of four try to make it through the night in a deserted trailer park while being hunted by the savage, ax-wielding, mask-wearing trio wrecking havoc once again."
We will bring you any further news on this story as we hear it.
