2012 saw the release of PROMETHEUS which became a huge hit at the box office and of course it makes perfect sense to have a sequel. Director Ridley Scott has been working on the upcoming ALIEN: COVENANT which will be the PROMETHEUS sequel and serve as a prequel to the ALIEN films.
With filming now officially having wrapped months ago, it is not much longer now until the release of ALIEN: COVENANT. The film was scheduled to be released on August 4th, 2017.
We have just learned that 20th Century Fox has decided to release the film three months earlier. May 19th is the new date to look for this one. The newly released poster further fuels the fire of this highly anticipated film.
Earlier in the year, Michael Fassbender said had this to say about ALIEN COVENANT:
“It’s much scarier than Prometheus, but it’s got the same sort of scope of Prometheus.”
“It’s kind of got more of thriller, imminent disaster feel that Alien had, so it’s kind of a beautiful meeting of both of those films. I’m really excited to see it, I think it’s gonna be super scary number one and then again with the massive scope of Prometheus… Once it starts and the ball starts rolling, it doesn’t let up. It’s really gonna bring chills to the cinema.”
"Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition."
ALIEN: COVENANT stars Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Demian Bichir, Danny McBride, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, Benjamin Rigby, Callie Hernandez and Billy Crudup.
The film was written by Michael Green, Jack Paglen, and John Logan.
Remember to mark May 19th down on your calendar as this is the new release date for ALIEN: COVENANT.
