The summer of 2015 saw Director Colin Trevorrow's long awaited JURASSIC WORLD hit theaters to an amazing response. It quickly become the third highest grossing film in history. The fact that the resurrected franchise performed so well meant only one thing, that we will once again be seeing the Dinosaurs return to the big screen.

Earlier on this year it was made known to the world that Juan Antonio Bayona would be the director of JURASSIC WORLD 2. The script was penned by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly.

We have just learned that actor Justice Smith has joined the cast of the JURASSIC WORLD sequel in an unspecified role.

Smith is known for appearing on the Netflix series THE GET DOWN. He also starred in the YA adaptation PAPER TOWNS. He joins the returning Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt, as well as Rafe Spall and Toby Jones.

In other news pertaining to the film. It seems that there was an outcry over Bryce Dallas Howard's character, who in the first film wore heels while her and Chris Pratt were running through the jungle. The first film's director Colin Trevorrow shared an image of a selection of women's boots, implying that this go around we will most likely see Howard's character wear some more suitable footwear.

Trevorrow says of the upcoming sequel:

"The dinosaurs will be a parable of the treatment animals receive today: the abuse, medical experimentation, pets, having wild animals in zoos like prisons, the use the military has made of them, animals as weapons.

The second part will be a very different movie that will explore new paths. For that reason, it was clear that it needed to be Bayona who would direct it, in order to have it grow and evolve with his very personal vision."

With shooting set to begin in England during the Spring, JURASSIC WORLD 2 which is scheduled to hit theaters on June 22, 2018.
