Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.
The upcoming FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE GAME from Gun Media and IllFonic in partnership with Crystal Lake Entertainment has been on a roll. Continuing to move forward with great progress, fans are eager to get their hands on this soon to be hit of a game.
Today we bring you a new video from FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE GAME which gives us a look at 17 minutes of beta gameplay, courtesy of IGN. We have also included the previously released trailer as well. Head on down below to have a look at both.
As the single player mode being added has pleased many fans, this process does mean that the game will be slightly delayed for further development as a single player campaign featuring several missions ripped straight from the films will take some extra time.
The game will include FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2's Packanack Lodge as a playable map.
The original plan was for FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE GAME to become available in October. Now with the new changes taking place, here is how the schedule is looking:
Fall 2016: Beta Release including 4 additional beta keys for friends when pre-ordered
Spring 2017: Multiplayer Release with Tommy Jarvis and Packanack Lodge as the third playable map
Summer 2017: Single Player Release and Offline AI Bots
Head of Gun Media studio Wes Keltner previously said of the situation:
"The first thing people are going to read here is 'delay. We want everyone to be assured that coming to our decision to delay was no easy matter, but we believe that the positives far outweigh the negatives. We've been reading day in and day out on our social media feeds that single player and Tommy Jarvis were in such a demand that we couldn't ignore our fans. After securing funding, we're here to tell you that it is a reality and we're making this game even bigger. It sucks that there's a delay, but the wait won't be too long and it's going to offer more for fans in the long-run!"
FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE GAME is a third-person, asymmetrical multiplayer title where one player controls Jason Voorhees while the remaining seven control camp counselors trying to survive the night. That’s right…1v7 multiplayer set in the semi-open world of Camp Crystal Lake! It’s a classic horror fan’s dream, no shaky cam, no found footage. We want you to know we’re revitalizing the golden era of slashers, and putting you at the controls of each horrific, blood-splattered moment.
Kane Hodder reprises his role as Jason Voorhees via motion capture. Also on board with the project are FRIDAY THE 13TH Alumni Tom Savini, Harry Manfredini, and Sean S. Cunningham.
FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE GAME is being developed for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
We will continue to keep you updated on FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE GAME as we hear it.
