CURSE OF CHUCKY hit the scene back in 2013 and was met with mostly positive reviews. Some claiming that it was the rebirth of the franchise.
When it comes to the future of what Chucky will be up to, creator Don Mancini seems to always have the creative wheels turning.
It was not long ago that we learned of a fresh installment titled CULT OF CHUCKY was indeed in the works. Production just recently began in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Today we bring you the first official image of Chucky himself making an appearance on the set of CULT OF CHUCKY. Sure, the little fellow is headless, but make no mistake about it, Chucky is back.
Returning to the franchise will be Brad Dourif, who provides the voice of Chucky. Also returning will be Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent who once again takes on the role of Andy, as well as Jennifer Tilly reprising her role as Tiffany.
CULT OF CHUCKY will follow Fiona Dourif's character Nica Pierce from the previous film CURSE OF CHUCKY as she is:
"at an asylum for the criminally insane where she has been confined for the past four years and is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when Nica's psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic "tool" to facilitate his patients' group sessions — an all-too-familiar "Good Guy" doll with an innocently smiling face — a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn't crazy after all. Andy Barclay (Vincent), Chucky's now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child's Play, races to Nica's aid. But to save her he'll have to get past Tiffany (Tilly), Chucky's long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll."
Mancini will write, direct, and serve as executive producer on CULT OF CHUCKY which is being produced by David Kirschner and Ogden Gavanski. Leading the special effects team as well as associate producing is Tony Gardner. Michael Marshall is the director of photography, Craig Sandells is the production designer and Patricia J. Henderson is the costume designer.
Glenn Ross, General Manager and Executive Vice President at Universal 1440 Entertainment Glenn Ross said the following about the project:
"It's hard to believe that it's been nearly 30 years since Chucky first terrified moviegoers in Child's Play. Since then the films have generated millions in worldwide box-office revenue. Now Chucky's back with more scores to settle in his trademark twisted style, and you can bet he won't stop until he gets his revenge."
CULT OF CHUCKY will be getting an unrated release on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD this Fall.
