The quest to bring back the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise has been an ongoing effort ever since the release of the 2009 reboot. Bringing Jason Voorhees back to the big screen is not an easy task. Previous attempts have fallen apart and amounted to nothing.
Platinum Dunes has been developing the new FRIDAY THE 13TH film at Paramount for a long time now. Some time ago the studio decided to hire writer Aaron Guzikowski. Breck Eisner is the current choice to direct the retelling of the FRIDAY THE 13TH origin story which has a release date this October. Production is scheduled to begin in the Conyers, Georgia area from March 19th to May 4th.
Fridaythe13thFranchise, who revealed the recent casting calls for a young Jason and his father Elias, is now reporting that the filmmakers are wanting Jason's iconic hockey mask in FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 13 to look like the one from PART III.
In addition we have also learned that Legacy Effects will be handling the special effects in the film. The company was formed by artists who had been supervising projects at Stan Winston's company before the FX legend passed away in 2008.
The current release date for FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 13 is October 13th 2017.
