THE MATRIX To Be Rebooted?

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

The 1999 film THE MATRIX starred Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Hugo Weaving and saw humanity living in a simulated reality, unaware that humans are in pods in which their bodies are being harvested for energy. A computer programmer named Neo slowly becomes aware of this suppressed existence, eventually becoming humanity’s one true hope (Neo = One) to overthrow the oppressors. Reeves also went on to star in THE MATRIX RELOADED, along with THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS.

THR is reporting that Warner Bros. is looking to reboot THE MATRIX. Apparently producer Joel Silver was the one who approached Warner Bros. about the idea creating another project that would dig back into the mythos and tell some more fantastic stories.

It looks as if Warner Bros. isn’t wanting directly remake the film as they plan to expand the property, similar to what Disney has managed to do with STAR WARS as THR says:

“exploring the hidden corners of the universe with movies such as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story or the in-production young Han Solo film. Perhaps a young Morpheus movie could come out of the exploration, as an example.”

At this time there are no details on the project other than the reboot is being written by Zak Penn, (LAST ACTION HERO, X-MEN 2, ELEKTRA, X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, THE INCREDIBLE HULK, and THE AVENGERS).

We will continue to keep you updated on this story as we hear it.
