Update On Universal’s BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN Remake!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

It was made known quite some time ago that Universal had decided to take it's Classic monsters and give them reboots. The studio is still in the process of bringing them back to life on screen, with the idea of creating it's own universe to where characters can cross over from different films.

The idea of including BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN among those to be remade is a no-brainer. In fact Universal has been toying with the idea of remaking the 1935 film for the last twenty years. Throughout the years many drafts have been written, including one by Anne Rice herself.

We have learned that director Bill Condon is in early talks to direct the upcoming BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN remake for Universal. Condon directed the live action BEAUTY AND THE BEAST movie, which has now passed the $1 billion mark at the global box office.

As of this point in time, no official deal has been made but Deadline reports that both sides are excited about teaming together for the project.

Condon has worked the Horror genre in the past with CANDYMAN: FAREWELL TO THE FLESH. He also directed THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN parts 1 and 2, and GODS OF MONSTERS.

The director of the upcoming film THE MUMMY Alex Kurtzman, along with Chris Morgan are the ones in charge of bringing the Universal Monsters back to life as the duo will executive produce the BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN film. David Koepp is in charge of the screenplay.

As of now there are no casting details. Back when this project was in it’s infant stages, there were rumors going around that Universal was interested in having Angelina Jolie come on as director and star in the picture. It is uncertain if the studio is still wanting to have the actress take on the role or if she is still interested if she is not directing.

We will continue to keep you updated on the BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN remake as it unfolds.
