Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.
Everyone has been waiting to see what the Godfather of Zombies George A. Romero would do next. As it turns out, he will be once again returning to the world of living dead with a project titled ROAD OF THE DEAD, which Romero co-wrote with Matt Birman, who will be in the director’s chair should the film get made.
ROAD OF THE DEAD will be looking for finances at the Frontières market this July at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal.
Around ten years ago when Birman was a second unit director on Romero’s second zombie trilogy, he pitched the ROAD OF THE DEAD idea to the legendary director as an island where zombie prisoners race cars in a modern-day Coliseum for the entertainment of wealthy humans. ROAD WARRIOR, ROLLERBALL and BEN-HUR are said to be the influences.
On board as producers are Matt Manjourides and Justin Martell. At this time it is not known if the film would be a part of the Romero universe or if it would be a stand alone story.
We will continue to bring you more on ROAD OF THE DEAD as we hear it.
