Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.
Way back in 2013 the world was treated to the release of the latest installment into the CHUCKY franchise with CURSE OF CHUCKY. Mostly well received by fans, the film marked the rebirth of the franchise, opening up the door to many possibilities. With the sequel now moving along full steam ahead, it looks like we all will be in for a real treat by Halloween time.
The upcoming sequel from director Don Mancini titled CULT OF CHUCKY, has been building some grand momentum within the Horror community as fans are eager to see what Chucky has in store for them next as he wreaks havoc within an asylum.
With CULT OF CHUCKY now in post-production, star Jennifer Tilly was recently interviewed by THR and when asked if she would be playing herself, or Tiffany in the new film she replied:
“I play Tiffany, and I’m sure you don’t follow it but a few years ago, I played myself and Tiffany went into my body — Jennifer Tilly, international movie star — and Tiffany the doll, Tiffany's soul went into Jennifer. So in this movie, I may be Tiffany or I may be Jennifer Tilly. We don’t know. But they introduce me as Jennifer Tilly, but I’m very Tiffany-esque. I kill people. It’s really fun. The Chucky fans and horror film fans will really love that.”
She went on to speak about the future of the CHUCKY franchise saying:
“I'm super-good friends with the director. I think he’s going to put me in every Chucky movie until the end of time, and I honestly feel like there are going to be Chucky movies until the end of time because at the end of every movie he dies and comes back to life again.”
Mancini made it clear that Chucky’s appearance in this film will be much closer to the classic look.
CULT OF CHUCKY will follow Fiona Dourif's character Nica Pierce from the previous film CURSE OF CHUCKY as she is:
"at an asylum for the criminally insane where she has been confined for the past four years and is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when Nica's psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic "tool" to facilitate his patients' group sessions — an all-too-familiar "Good Guy" doll with an innocently smiling face — a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn't crazy after all. Andy Barclay (Vincent), Chucky's now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child's Play, races to Nica's aid. But to save her he'll have to get past Tiffany (Tilly), Chucky's long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll."
CULT OF CHUCKY stars Fiona Dourif as Nica Pierce, Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany, Summer H. Howell as Alice, Alex Vincent as Andy Barclay, and Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky. Newcomer Grace Lynn Kung joins in on the fun as the "hard-edged" Claire.
Mancini writes, directs, and serves as executive producer on CULT OF CHUCKY which is being produced by David Kirschner and Ogden Gavanski. Leading the special effects team as well as associate producing is Tony Gardner. Michael Marshall is the director of photography, Craig Sandells is the production designer and Patricia J. Henderson is the costume designer.
CULT OF CHUCKY will be getting an unrated release on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD this Fall.
