Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.
These days, one of the biggest and most successful Horror franchises is James Wan’s THE CONJURING. The movie was able to put out a sequel, and has been able to create some spin-off’s such as ANNABELLE, the upcoming sequel ANNABELLE: CREATION, as well as the yet to be made film titled THE NUN.
The first two CONJURING films both followed Ed and Lorraine Warren who did battle with supernatural forces that caused major problems for families in need of help. There is no doubt that a CONJURING 3 will be taking place, but what will that particular movie be about?
We have now learned that New Line Cinema has chosen David Leslie Johnson to write the screenplay for THE CONJURING 3. At this time there are no details on the story for the film, but it is expected to follow-up part 2 and is expected to focus on another case file from paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who are played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.
In addition, we have learned that James Wan will NOT be directing THE CONJURING 3, and at this time there has not been a director named for the task at hand. Wan is still expected to produce the project with Peter Safran.
Safran previously offered a little insight into what we can expect from THE CONJURING 3 revealing:
“There are some [cases] that maybe aren't as well known, but they spent a fair bit of time researching and were part of [them]. Clearly, we can't do another haunted house movie, right? We can't do another supernatural possession in a house, with a family in peril. Right? So, it's got to be something different than that, I think.
There are a lot of places to go, and there's a fair bit of material there.”
Not doing another haunted house movie sounds like the correct route to take. There are a lot of cases that the Warrens have investigated. It will certainly be interesting to see what the third film will bring.
At this time there is no date of release for THE CONJURING 3. ANNABELLE: CREATION is set to arrive into theaters on August 11th.
