In the past Quentin Tarantino has really blown up as an all around artist within the world of filmmaking. He even went as far as to hint around that he could be retiring soon, but then again he talks about wanting to do all kinds of projects, as in the one he is currently deep into.
A while back we learned of Tarantino’s next project will be set in the world where the Manson murders take place. With production set to begin sometime this year, it has now been revealed that Leonardo DiCaprio has signed on for this new Tarantino film.
Tarantino and DiCaprio have a past together as they both worked on DJANGO UNCHAINED.
DiCaprio will be playing an aging actor in the story that is very tight lipped but is a said to a Pulp Fiction-like movie, set in the 1969 Los Angeles during the summer of the Manson murders.
Actors such as Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lawrence have both been approached for possible roles in the past. Tarantino has also met with Margot Robbie to possibly play Sharon Tate. Samuel L. Jackson is also being considered for a role as well. None of these rumored names have had any confirmation just yet. DiCaprio is the only actor to officially sign on at this point.
Plot courtesy of Vanity Fair:
“Set in Los Angeles in the summer of 1969, Tarantino’s upcoming movie, according to a source who read the script, focuses on a male TV actor who’s had one hit series and his looking for a way to get into the film business. His sidekick—who’s also his stunt double—is looking for the same thing. The horrific murder of Sharon Tate and four of her friends by Charles Manson’s cult of followers serves as a backdrop to the main story.”
Producing the film are David Heyman, Tarantino, and Shannon McIntosh. Georgia Kacandes will serve as executive producer.
We will continue to keep you updated on Quentin Tarantino’s next film was we hear it.
