Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.
We learned some time ago that Blumhouse launched their own independent TV studio along with ITV Studios with the plan being to produce both scripted and unscripted genre shows. The first project on that list will be based off of THE PURGE franchise.
With the prequel to the existing PURGE trilogy, THE FIRST PURGE now being made, it is a surprise that any news regarding THE PURGE television series would be surfacing. Such is the case as creator James DeMonaco and Blumhouse Television prepare their upcoming show to air on USA as well as the Syfy Network.
The first two actors have now been cast for the TV series.
First up is Gabriel Chavarria who will play the character of Miguel who is:
“A US Marine with a hard edge and a noble mission. After receiving a cryptic letter from his little sister, Penelope, he returns to town on Purge Night – prepared to face the senseless violence in the streets alone in order to protect what he loves most – his family.”
Jessica Garza will play Miguel’s sister named Penelope who:
“belongs to a Purge-worshipping cult. Having pledged herself to be sacrificed at the behest of their charismatic leader, Penelope’s faith is tested when she is exposed to the ghastly realities of the Purge.”
THE PURGE TV series will be produced by Blumhouse along with Universal Cable Productions. Platinum Dunes and Sebastien K Lemercier will serve as executive producers on the series.
Producer Jason Blum previously revealed what we can expect from THE PURGE TV series saying:
“It will reveal to the fans what happens the other 364 days of the year and how that law affects people."
We will keep you updated on all things THE PURGE as they unfold.
