The Very Latest On The PET SEMATARY Remake!

Bringing you the best in Horror Movie News, and all things Horror.

It's hard to believe that it is going on thirty years since PET SEMATARY was first released into theaters. Based on Stephen King’s novel, the 1989 film brought to life some haunting imagery that Horror fans will never forget. There has been talk of a possible remake for years and it looks as though this is really happening.

Filmmakers Kevin Kolsch and Dennies Widmyer were previously selected by Paramount Pictures to remake PET SEMATARY. The directing duo are responsible for 2014’s STARRY EYES. They have also directed some big episodes from MTV’s SCREAM series.

We have now learned that the PET SEMATARY remake’s date of release has been changed from April 19, 2019 to an earlier date of April 5th 2019.

Not long ago we learned that Jason Clarke was cast as Louis Creed in the remake and John Lithgow will play the role of Jud Crandall.

The screenplay will be written by David Kajganich, who penned the upcoming SUSPIRIA remake, and Matt Greenberg, who is credited for the writing of the Stephen King adaptations 1408 and MERCY.

The 1989 version of PET SEMATARY starred Dale Midkiff, Fred Gwynne, and Denise Crosby. Then in 1992 a sequel followed starring Edward Furlong and once again directed by Mary Lambert.

PET SEMATARY synopsis:

"When the Creeds move into a beautiful old house in rural Maine, it all seems too good to be true: physician father, beautiful wife, charming little daughter, adorable infant son—and now an idyllic home. As a family, they’ve got it all…right down to the friendly cat.

But the nearby woods hide a blood-chilling truth—more terrifying than death itself...and hideously more powerful.

The Creeds are going to learn that sometimes dead is better."

Remember the release date for the PET SEMATARY remake has been changed to April 5th 2019.
