It has been known for a while that AMERICAN HORROR STORY creator Ryan Murphy has big plans to unleash a crossover season that will see characters from both Murder House and Coven intertwine. As it turns out, that crossover season is still on the agenda, and will be happening THIS
Either Murphy purposely swerved everyone or the stars just happened to align quicker than expected because this upcoming season, Season 8, will feature the much talked about crossover instead of Season 9 as previously stated.
Murphy revealed on Twitter:
“The Coven/Murder House AHS crossover season won't be happening next year...because it's happening THIS YEAR. AHS #8 WITCHES RULE THIS SEPTEMBER”
As far as what WAS
previously revealed about the new season, it was going to be set” "18 months from today". It was said to star Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Billie Lourd (as a new character), Evan Peters (as a comedic character who works as a hairstylist), and Joan Collins (as the grandmother of Peters' character). Anjelica Huston who was also said to be in talks to take a role, wasn’t yet confirmed.
Who knows if any of that will be still be a part of this season or if it will be saved for Season 9?
Murphy told EW just a few days ago that:
“You will see so many fan favorites return (this season) that you’ll feel like it’s The Love Boat. It’s a very high concept. It’s a season unlike anything we’ve done because there’s a big hook to it. There’s a huge thing that happens in episode five."
The Crossover Season 8 of AMERICAN HORROR STORY will begin filming this month.
