Kirk & Spock....

I'm posting these here as opposed to the "SLASHER" section because I don't conder a unmodified Kirk, THE SHAPE:

your right on Chris with putting it in general.

First off, ME WANTS! But what is the story with these two? They definitely look original. Do we know who owns them?
Horror Domain - Cursed Evil Overlord Thursday 12/11/2008 at 07:42 AM | 27823
I WANT THAT KIRK.......... Holy shit... Looks like an Original... If no other picture has done it than this one will show you how Well Sam McCain did at recreating it...

The story is, the guy selling these (or attempting to sell them), appearently when he was a kid, Bill Malone was at his house. This was the time when Malone worked at Paramount Studios. He brought with him a ROBBY robot from the movie "Plan 9 from Outer Space." He also gave this guy both the Kirk and Spock mask. The man now is 39 years old, and has a wife.

Anyway, a collector had on Ebay, a DB2 mask, and appearently, this guys wife came across it and emailed the seller asking about the DB2. Thinking that maybe it was the same mask, she then replied back to the seller telling them that her and her husbund have the same mask, but it's painted in flesh tone. She also saw the price at which the seller was asking for the DB2. I guess both she and her husbund didn't know what they really had or what it was worth.

Now there's a big bidding war on it, only it's not being done through ebay, but through personal emails. I heard earlier tonight, someone offered 20K for it. So that about sums everything up on these two beauts.

I'm still MAD
SithLord Thursday 12/11/2008 at 07:59 AM | 27826
These are 100%, the real thing. A real 1976 Kirk. I say 1976 because that's when these Kirks were released to the public. Also, the lifecast from Shatner was made during the filming of the movie "Devil's Rain", only later used by William Malone to make the Kirk mask for the STAR TREK line that DP Studio's finally put out.
SithLord Thursday 12/11/2008 at 08:04 AM | 27827
Who in there right mind spends 20,000.00 for a 30 year old latex mask?????????? I mean, sure I could see 2k 3k for something like this as it is VERY RARE and VERY HISTORICAL, but 20 thousand??? Shit I could buy a brand new Cobalt car for Less than that and still have about 7 - 8k to put in the bank...

Hmmm... I bet the people selling it, shit when they seen what its going for... Especially when they were offered 20K for it... lol...

Damn... Sooner or later someone will list one for buy it now at 15.00 thinking it isnt worth shit and some Lucky guy like me will stumble into the whole mess and buy it!!!Well definatly a kool story and I am sorry you got screwed out of getting it...

Harry Warden Thursday 12/11/2008 at 08:23 AM | 27828
Well, I didn't really get screwed out of it. I emailed the sellers offering around 2K for both masks. Understand something, according to the DP catalog, a Kirk mask in mint condition (very RARE nowadays) is worth no more then 600.00. The Spock, 300.00. The problem is, being that the Kirk was the HalloweeN mask, the HalloweeN crowd will spend FUCKNUTS amount of cash on them, driving everything through the roof. 2-3K is well within the range that anyone should have to spend on these masks. First of all, they're STAR TREK masks first and foremost. Not HalloweeN masks. Second, no TREK fan would ever conder spending that insane amount of $$ on these things, regardless of the shape they're in.

Problem now is, the person who gets them

(if they sell), I hope doesn't go and try and have it converted. That would be a DAMN SHAME. The only thing that should be done to those 2 masks is, they both need to be foam filled. You can see that gravity is already setting in on the both of them.
SithLord Thursday 12/11/2008 at 08:37 AM | 27829
I saw these threads over at M-M.net, and I was blown away at the 'mint-ness" of these 30 year old masks. They are starting to droop with impending rot, but they still look excellent. I have to agree that 20K is crazy balls, but if someone really thinks this mask is worth that much to them (and how rare is it to see one these nowadays?) then by all means go for it. Just hope you don't regret it later. I personally would love to have a mint Kirk, like you guys say, for the historical reasons, but I'd be on the fence about converting it. There are some great modifiers out there that could give it the best paint ad hair jobs, and cut those eyes out amazingly, and then it would truly be a holy grail for Halloween fans, but then, would it be worth more to the collector to have it converted or leave it as is? I personally would rather have it converted, because I'm a

HalloweeN nut, and not a TREK nut. But that's my personal opinion. And I wouldn't pay THAT much for it, even if I had 20K to just throw out...
strangerathome Thursday 12/11/2008 at 04:47 PM | 27847
someone offered 20K for it. So that about sums everything up on these two beauts.:

For 20.000 bucks this should be the real Shatner and Nimoy heads...
LÜCKMANN Thursday 12/11/2008 at 06:55 PM | 27850
no chance I'd be converting that Kirk if I owned it . .. it's worth more not converted.
DaShape Thursday 12/11/2008 at 07:17 PM | 27855
Robby is not from Plan 9 from Outer Space...
HorrorSanctum Thursday 12/11/2008 at 07:46 PM | 27862
Why does this Kirk look differant than the Kirk Sam posted with his??? The deburns are completely differant and the one same posted looks more full...

hmmm... 2 differant degns for '75??? Looks like the hair is even differant...

Just curious...

Harry Warden Thursday 12/11/2008 at 08:07 PM | 27866
Harry, the Kirk in the pic you posted was foam filled. deburns vary from copy to copy.

Yeah, I think Robby was from Forbidden Planet. One of those 50's SCI FI movies.
SithLord Thursday 12/11/2008 at 09:44 PM | 27880
Looks like this mask may end up on fagbay.

Happy bidding

SithLord Thursday 12/11/2008 at 11:12 PM | 27882

Exactly. To give a bit of a comparison, I have a good condition Christopher Lee Dracula also sculpted by Bill Malone and released by DPS in '76. Same vintage, sculptor, and studio releang it...I paid under $70 for it.

There is no doubt that $20,000 is insane to pay for a 30 year old piece of latex. But I ain't mad at anybody if they choose to pay that. Some things are just worth more to certain people than others. There is definitely a lot of history with the mask and its value of course would be inflated because of that but $20,000, wow that just seems insane to me. But hey there are a lot of Lee Lambert's in this world with buckets of cash to spend on rare items like this.

Horror Domain - Cursed Evil Overlord Friday 12/12/2008 at 12:50 AM | 27903
man it sure would be great to have in your collection. if your a halloween fan and you own a damn near mint kirk that is the end all be all. i can see it going for a pretty penny.

Amen to that! It would look lovely over the fire place that is for sure!

Horror Domain - Cursed Evil Overlord Friday 12/12/2008 at 05:31 AM | 27919
for 20,000.00 dollars, be damned if I'd put it over a fire place... lmao... I'd have that son bitch behind bullet proof, climat controled, High security system case! Hell I'd even go the distance as hooking up a camera system so I could keep my eye on it in every room of the house... Yep, no way I'd stick a 30 year old peice of Fragile latex over a fire place... I'm anal with my stuff as bad as it is now... lol... I don't smoke around it, I don't like to handle my masks anymore than nessessary, I don't wear them long enough to swet in them because thats just gross and it adds to the rotting process in the words of Wayne Toth... I have my Psychopath in a display case that has it's own Monthly mantanance. Complete cleaning in and out...

I just feel that a mask is only worth the way it has been treated... Treat it like gold it will forever hold it's value and it can only go up... Good example, Look at this Mint Original Kirk this guy took care of... Someone offered 20,000.00 for it...

It's come out that, that 20K offer MAY have been BS. The seller may be trying to see how much he can get for it. So far the highest offer that has been made public, is 10K. Followed by a guy who offered 9K. Still, both of those amounts are downright ludicris.

Also, there's been alot of talk about converting it already. All that money to mess up a good thing.
SithLord Friday 12/12/2008 at 07:14 AM | 27947
im drooling over here. hell i would take the spock by itself. that is probably the more rare of the two if you think about it.
