Google Latitude

Has anyone else tried Google Latitude yet?

You install the latest Google Maps app on your compatible phone, enter your Google login info, and Google knows where you are at all times.

That's the scary part.

But, the cool feature is that anyone you send an invite to can see where you are on their phone or via a module on their iGoogle home page.

You can choose to not be seen or even give a fake location.

The server runs as a process in the background constantly updating your location ung cell tower triangulation.

When you have the Google Maps application open, it will use GPS (if your phone has it) for a pretty damn accurate location.

I'm not sure how much it drains the battery, but I can tell a difference on battery life nce installing it.

Google now has all the information they dere.

With Search, they know my surfing habits and interests.

With Gmail and Contacts, they know all my communications, shopping habits, friends along with their addresses and phone numbers.

With Google Calendar, they know all my appointments and bill due dates.

Now with Maps, they know exactly where the hell I am.

The scariest part?

I now have all this info instantly synced to my phone.

Yes, I'm a tech geek and love this stuff! I bow down to our new Google overlords!
