What Ranks Lowest On Your Scale?

Which "less than stunning" sequel is least useful to the Halloween franchise? In other words... what's the worst?

I say, without hetation, Halloween Resurrection. It had a below average story, a bad Myers, a cast with very little talent. The only thing that was halfway decent was the score. To put it plainly, it sucked.

I say it's Halloween III: Season Of The Witch. It had nothing to do with Michael Myers.

BUT... I still enjoy it. It's a good movie... just alot of people hate on it because they stuck the 'Halloween' name on it when they shouldn't have.
GrampaGruesome Sunday 1/20/2008 at 02:13 AM | 650
Yeah... most people believe (and I do too) that it is a good movie on it's own, but it loses something when you view it as a "Halloween seqel".

3 was a great movie. H8 wasnt the best in a lot of ways. But 3 is solid. Very great halloween movie. I feel it stands the test of time and I like to still watch it.

That's a good way of putting it.

It was good but I still believe it was the 'least useful'.
GrampaGruesome Sunday 1/20/2008 at 02:29 AM | 657
Yeah but in the long run, I think 3 will have done more for the franchise (in terms of merchanding at least). Resurrection was hot while it was still new... but H3 is a clasc (something I highly doubt Resurrection will be called).
Myers31TKD Sunday 1/20/2008 at 02:37 AM | 660
The thing a lot of people forget about H3 was that the Myers storyline was condered dead after H2 and the plan was for an anthology-type series of films with each having a different storyline under the Halloween title. At the time, Halloween and Myers were not intended to be synonymous. Had H3 done well in the theatres we would have likely seen the Halloween franchise remain as it was intended.

While I understand the dislike people have for Resurrection (I found Resurrection to be nothing more than a cookie-cutter slasher flick), personally I feel the lowest on my scale would be the 5th and 6th installments. This is just a personal thing as I thought the Thorn storyline was absurd. Though I do have to admit George Wilbur in Part 6 made it posble for us fat guys to play an accurate Myers!

Part 1 Part 3 Part 2 Part 4 H20 Trip to the dentist Resurrection Part 6 Getting kicked in the grapes Zombie's Remake Part 5

Ours are pretty milar... other than the fact that I think I'd rather get kicked in the grapes than watch Resurrection.

The only reason I ranked Resurrection as high as I did was because Brad Loree's a nice guy and a blast to hang out with over a few drinks

Oh I'm sure he is... he seems to be very cool. I just can't support his film... for it is a piece of crap.

I put H2O and Resurrection in the same class as H2O was just about Jamie Lee and them trying to bring something back that shouldn't have been. It was to much for her ego IMO and I am sure to get crap for it I'm sure but it sucks with all the scream style and I don't even need to say why Resurrection was bad cause we all know why.

I see your point... but for me, H2O was alot better in every way. I especially loved the score. Resurrection was just plain BAD.

I would have to say... Halloween 5 I couldn't really watch it as much i could the others. i love the mask though and the actors. they did a great job.... but i really couldn't watch it that much. it kinda bores me out.
RickyTheShape Monday 1/21/2008 at 12:08 AM | 798
Halloween 5 was hurt just on the fact they rushed it so much or it certainly feels that way, the dumb cops and the muc that they play with them, and the cast seemed to have gone down hill faster the a prom dress comes off on prom night.

I could watch H5 alot eaer than I could watch Resurrection. It may not have been the best... but it had all of the characters that I love (along with some that I hate ). Resurrection was full of people who were there mply to get an audience. It was a sellout in my opinion.

I think if they would have done the part 4 as it has been mentioned the way carpenter wanted to do it with a myers not of flesh and blood brought back into killing by the people angst it would have been great. Number 2 is a great movie and number 3 made a lot of sense for me as a follow up. Myers was shot in the eyes and blown up. He should have been dead and the series should have taken a turn like it did. i could think of a million things to make that would be scary as hell. Halloween is a broad statement for a title so the sky was the limit. With myers living on the stories just got more watered down as they were released. I still love all the halloween movies but I think it would be cool to know how it would have turned out if carpenter was allowed to follow his vion of the film and its sequels. I mean he did give us the greatest horror movie of all time.

watched ressurection last night. i think it's pretty dang good. I havn't watched it in a while but i have to say. The movie is awesome.
RickyTheShape Monday 1/21/2008 at 04:21 PM | 841

I agree... but it's too late now. I love the sequels, even though they got crazier and more unbelievable as they went on.Very good point. He had more talent as a director than any of the directors of the halloween sequels, in my opinion.

The more I think about Resurrection the more I hate it.

What comes to mind is the stupid trap Jamie Lee sets for myers on the roof top.

That was completely lame and then the whole, "I have to be sure" bit where she reaches out to pull off his mask while his hands are unbound and free!?!

Ok, lets make Laurie Strode a freak'n moron while we're at it lol.

What about all these people trapped in the Myers house. The first floor consts of about 4 average zed rooms right?

They spend at least 1/3 the movie trying to get out of house that's about 20ft x 40ft.See what I mean when I said, the more I think about it, LOL

HAHAHA... got a kick out of this!! I see exactly what you mean. Another thing about the rooftop... where did she get the supplies to build that contraption? And when did she have the time to do it? Why did she kiss the man who's been trying to kill her for the past few decades? And that's just the first chapter of the movie!! lol. That movie is ridiculous.
Myers31TKD Tuesday 1/22/2008 at 03:41 AM | 896
Oh man she did kiss him didn't she?

That's like Luke kisng leia in ESB only Luke would have had to have been trying to kill her for 21 years with a lightsaber!

And for those of you who think that the remake of Halloween is the worst (Heretic), just wait. We'll have another "What Ranks Lowest" about remakes specifically, as soon as we get these new ripoffs...erm... remakes (Friday The 13th, ANOES, ect.) out of the way.

;)

Awesome. I'd like to see that (although I doubt if it could be that much better by just taking things out... but I don't know. I just HATE the movie.

).

Hey Bisco,

Are they edits that much better?

if so, have you put them to DVD?
DaShape Wednesday 2/06/2008 at 05:09 AM | 2129
ya, i edit movies in my spare time. youd be amazed how much better Ressurection is with

some trims and a few deleted scenes in.

i also took the beginning of ressurection and mixed it with H20 into one movie

youd be amazed how much better H5 is with less

of B-B-B-B-Billy and Tina and no psychic storyline. i put them on disc and watch them whenever im in the mood
