What is the real difference between an 85 and 86 don post?

I have seen a lot of these masks in my day... and currently own one still sealed in the original bag (never touched by human hands... tell me thats not awesome) But ade from the obvious stamp of 85 and 86 what is the difference in theses masks? They look identical to me... is there something i am misng? They are even clasfied together on the mm.net price guide.

I thought someone had said they really were the same thing. I thought they said the stamp just looks different but I don't remember for sure what was said.

The actual 85 sculpted in 84 is super rare and said to look different from the standard 85 we all know. The standard 85 was actually released in 86 if I'm correct and is said to be sculpted from DP JRs face.

That is very interesting. Thanks for the info Kaizu. One more note, The actual 85s were flesh color not to be mistakened for the 1990 Shatner which was based off the latter.

The '85 had a much more narrow nose. Very much like the nose on the H4 mask... The 86 however had a more round nose...

If I am wrong, then by all means correct me!

So let me clarify... What we really have here is a

1985 flesh color mask sculpted in 84

1985/1986 which is the wide release mask, just different date stamps?
