Blu Ray dvd and horror

Hey guys

Im not the biggest technophile out there.....it usually takes me a year to catch up with the latest technology. Thus far I still haven't gotten a blu-ray player but I should have one by Christmas.

My question is this....I can see getting some of my favs like Star Wars; Indiana Jones; Back To The Future etc along with new movie releases on blu-ray. But are we just wasting money in buying movies like MANIAC on blu ray? whats the benefit? A lot of 70's 80's films were shot on 16mm or even if they were 35 they still had the grainy celluloid look. Me personally? I like that.

What benefits have you guys seen in some of the older films that have been made available on blu ray?

thanks!

I can't say for alot of horror but Friday the 13Th was great on blu ray. I am picking up any I don't have or newer releases. The quality seemed better to me but it is only one movie. I really wish they would have released The Burning on Blu-Ray as I could really tell you if it was worth it or not.

Both Halloween and the Original Friday the 13th on blu ray are completely amazing. To be honest, I haven't bought any of the other older films that have creeped out on blu ray, mainly because there is no real proof that it is going to be any better. Most of the companies that release these discs are shady enough when it comes to their process, so there is really no way to know how much work and effort were put into them to clean them up...

take care, Tommy

Yeah Ive heard that Halloween and Friday look great. I guess maybe go by judgement.....pass on something like MANIAC but I bet something like the NMOES films might look great. Speaking of MANIAC I heard the blu-ray did come with a bunch of extras that were never released before.

For the low price some of them are comming out for it is hard not to pick them up. Halloween and Evil Dead II at $10 you can't pass them up.

This webte here shows you how the movie looks before you commit to buying it.

I am not going to replace all my dvd's with blu rays but I am going to do movies that I loved.
