FIRST LOOK: It's Finally Here! THE CABIN IN THE WOODS Trailer "HD"

The buzz surrounding The Cabin in the Woods for the last few years has been building. Horror fans were dying to see the film which was directed by Cloverfield screenwriter Drew Goddard and co-written by Goddard and Joss Whedon. The film got the proverbial "shaft" when MGM went belly-up and many wondered if the movie would ever see the light of day let along a theatrical run.

But Lionsgate picked up the film a few months ago and it's off to the races we go. Today, they unveiled the first look and the trailer plays really well although much more in the sci-fi department that I thought, definitely not a let down, which is nice after years of waiting. The trailer is below along with a brief synops:

"A group of five friends going on a quiet cabin retreat scratch the surface of something so masve and horrific that they can only begin to fathom what might posbly be going on just as time quickly runs out."

The Cabin in the Woods hits theaters on April 13, 2012.

Looked like good, old-fashioned fun...then this whole crap with the scientists experimenting or whatever the hell was going on started happening and now it looks like shit. It's such a good formula; how can they not get it right??? I guess I'll have to watch and see if a miracle occurs and it turns out to be entertaining.

It actually reminds me a lot of Shark Night, only more hi-tech and awful.

Oh man.......I've been waiting for a trailer to come out and hopefully make sense of this movie. And now....WTF? I'm more confused than I was before. What the hell is going on? Is it like virtual reality? An experiment? The Matrix? The Truman Show by Stephen King? Kinda like Cube, maybe? I know they said it would be a "twist" and unexpected, but this looks REALLY out there. There were people in creepy masks, some weird control center, what looked like zombies and some crazy flying creature....shit, I'm lost here. Still wanna see it though. Its also posble that this trailer is giving too much away that should be left as a surprise.........we'll just have to wait and find out I guess.

Yeah, are the scientist necessary? It's one of the oldest formulas in horror and they didn't seem to get it right. I'll see what the reviews are before I make up my mind but this just seems alittle ridiculous. At the most it could be a fun bad film to watch.

C'mon peeps! I agree that about a minute in the film looks like a fucking gem of a slasher movie but hey, we've seen that done a thousand fucking times, let's see a new take. Does it look a bit stupid having a scientist pulling fucking levers? Yes, but shit, this is the first trailer and yeah I was kinda hoping for a little Evil Dead here but I can dig something new, something original. I say bring the fuckin movie on, this may be the shot in the arm the genre needs at the big screen. It's either this or Twilight, what do you guys want?

"You think you know the story but you don't."

It appears to be "Cabin" plus "Cube". Not sure, but give it a chance. It will either Feast or Flop.

Well I have nothing against them doing something different. I mean yeah, it is an old horror formula- which is why I think something new is appropriate. I just don't know if this is gonna work out or fail miserably. I really just wish this movie was already out and on dvd, like it should be. I also think its funny how you don't see Richard Jenkins or Bradley Whitford in the trailer, nce they get top billing on IMDB. But they may be supporting characters, plus its common for trailers to focus on the younger actors, but they usually at least throw in more well known actors. Its also funny to see a pre-Thor Chris Hemsworth in this, because this WAS made before he became popular and it seems painfully obvious that he dies at some point before the final act.

But I'm really starting to lean toward the "Truman Show by Stephen King idea" what with the hidden cameras and all. And yes, I really want to see this.

Man is everyone crazy? That film looks fucking awesome!

I'm very glad it's not what was expected, this looks like a lot of fun! Can't wait!

"Holy shit, did you notice I said it reminded me of Cube?"

Yes, yes I did, you beat me to the punch, lol. But I'm thinking the same thing.

"Man is everyone crazy?"

Yes...yes we are.

I'm down for this. I agree the scientist thing is a little strange but at least its something new.

Good point, there was a discuson about that a while back. Movie trailers showing too much. About a minute or minute thirty tops is all that's necessary...without just showing all the good parts.

It should have been called "Cubin" or "Cube in the Cabin" or "Cabin in the Cube"

Not hating on it but thought those sounded funny and I really dig Cube, so this may be cool who knows?
