Well Bidites we've got some disappointing news for you. Today we received review copies of the upcoming HALLOWEEN 4 & 5 Blu-rays, and the 30 minutes of deleted/alternate scenes were not on the disc, but they were mentioned on the press release that came with the discs.

You might be thinking, "isn't a review copy something that just has the movie, comes in a paper sleeve/plastic case, and doesn't really include anything else?" Yes, that's exactly what it is. However, these came shrink wrapped in Blu-ray cases with artwork. nce the actual release date (August 21st-According To Amazon, or August 28th-According To The Official Press Release) is so close I'm led to believe that these are FINAL releases.

Official Press Release That Lists The Deleted Scenes As A Bonus Feature

Back Of H4 Blu-ray Case

I popped the disc in to take a look, and while I LOVE the menu no option to view the footage is present, and I doubt they'd go through the trouble of making it an Easter Egg (A Hidden Feature On The Disc.) I'm still holding onto some small hope that these might be review copies and that the footage might be present when the Blu-ray is officially released later this month. I'm hoping we get some answers soon. I've tried to reach out to Anchor Bay about this, but have not gotten a response yet.

I'm curious, how many of you will still buy this release without the deleted scenes? Is a superior 1080p transfer with a DTS-HD-MA 5.1 audio track with a NEW commentary by Director Dwight H. Little & Author Justin Behmn enough to make you pick it up?

I feel that the sole reason a lot of you we're picking this up because these scenes were going to be included, but it looks like we were just being teased and set up for disappointment.

I'd go after them for false adverting, then.
Dimiter Wednesday 8/08/2012 at 01:56 AM | 95394
I have to wonder why these Blu Ray producers keep dropping the ball on the Halloween movie releases.

I've never been crazy about IV and V to begin with so it's an easy pass for me if there's nothing new to see.
freakengine Wednesday 8/08/2012 at 02:15 AM | 95395
That Sucks!
rbrshortfilms13 Wednesday 8/08/2012 at 02:29 AM | 95397
I'll still buy them.
skutterk Wednesday 8/08/2012 at 02:58 AM | 95398
I'll buy them too. I heard the transfers are amazing! I'm just a little let down that this footage was mentioned when it probably doesn't even exist. Of all the releases of H4 its just strange that it was mentioned now and never before.
LoomisLives2010 Wednesday 8/08/2012 at 03:07 AM | 95401
I would buy them for the 1080p transfer, but am quite disappointed about the deleted scenes.

I do feel that these and the other sequels need so much more included with the package, and not because I think the films aren't good.

I feel that because I've seen them so many times, it would be nice to see them from other angles.
Madloomis78 Wednesday 8/08/2012 at 03:26 AM | 95402
Great job anchor bay, you lied to us hardcore fans to get us to pre order these, then don't have the balls to let anyone know and we have to find out from a reviewer

Not only do i want my money back but i will never buy any of your products ever again you damn liars
Johnny Bisco Wednesday 8/08/2012 at 07:31 AM | 95403

collection
grant.neal Wednesday 8/08/2012 at 01:22 PM | 95405

TheSkeletonCrew Wednesday 8/08/2012 at 02:16 PM | 95406

Nightmareblade17 Wednesday 8/08/2012 at 08:32 PM | 95414

I just want to say great work by The Skeleton Crew getting this news before we even got official word from Anchor Bay today. Amazing journalism work guys!

I have a feeling that all the deleted scenes and other features, will be part of the HalloweeN Collector's Set.

Thanks Justin! We're just glad it's out there now, and that fans have a better idea what they're getting on August 21st. As Halloween fans ourselves we're very disappointed.

What a bunch of crap! Great field work by you guys for finding this out but it sucks!
Shakelford, J. Rusty Thursday 8/09/2012 at 12:43 AM | 95426
Good work Skeleton Crew!

I'm just pissed that Anchor Bay's reply was mply 'What we put out there wasn't really the case'. What kind of bullshit is that?
joshk1986 Thursday 8/09/2012 at 12:59 AM | 95429
I could really care less about the deleted scenes myself, I'm gonna buy them just so I can see my favorite movies on Blu-ray, but for them to say that the press release was not "reflective" of the final product, is just a cowards way of saying...."We fucked up guys, sorry".

skutterk Thursday 8/09/2012 at 01:01 AM | 95430
They must have had the footage (or at least thought they could get it) to even include it as a feature in the initial press release. Were they given bad information from their sources, or are they just withholding so they can make another edition down the road (they are famous for multiple releases of the same film)?

Is there any news of a Halloween 30th Anniversary Blu Ray next year with the Cundey approved transfer perhaps?
Preston Eleven Thursday 8/09/2012 at 11:18 PM | 95448
I also heard that the "TRUE HD' audio mix is subpar to the DVD DIVIMAX 5.1 mix?! Talk about HD failed release. Sorry Anchor Bay but in this even more so connected world of word of mouth, social networking etc. you cant get away with this crap anymore. Guess you missed the H2 debacle?! Anyway you wont be getting my coin until you respect the fans enough to do a proper HD release with advertised extras. Pretty embarrasng if you ask me.
