The Perfect 'Cropsy' Display?

One thing we're going to start doing is posting some our blogs here on the forum as well, and what better way to start things off than with Cropsy. I know at least one member who's gonna drool over this...

I never thought I was big enough on The Burning to actually want a Cropsy mask but this would certainly be something I'd want.

Holy F@#$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok now being the worlds biggest fan I damn well think I should be given one of these. The details are incredible to him and certainly is the best one I have seen so far. I would like the red a little less bright but it is the most acurate one IMO to the movies. Now before I go spewing out any more words I need a few minutes in the bathroom in private to go think about this more. lol

This is pretty cool, but unfortunately I'm afraid to order anything from MMFX.

Although some reviews have been good, I've seen a lot of comments about them taking forever and refung to respond to emails.

There was a post a while back on MM.net from a guy who had been waiting over a year for his order with little to no communication from Bob.

Apparently he had to call him out in public to get him to respond.

It's a damn shame because he does killer work.

So out of curioty, how many of you guys have dealt with Bob before?

Is his customer service as bad as I've read about, or am I way off base here?
gummi Sunday 11/22/2009 at 01:42 AM | 58317
the sculpt is great, please do not get me wrong, but I do not like the finishing work...and bedes...I am not gonna get giddy over something that I am actually SCARED to purchase.

take care, Tommy

i see where your coming from, i thought you were remarking on the sculpt itself. ive heard some negatives about mmfx also. ive never personally owned anything but ive heard the wait time is out of control. ive heard he comes through eventually though. its the same thing with a lot of mask makers though, the wait time that is.
customcritters Sunday 11/22/2009 at 01:46 AM | 58320
The wait time scares me as well as I have heard all the bad stuff but if I had the cash right now I'd be putting my bid in on it now over at evilbay.

I'd still love to see a wearable one like I was told of before. I am told all the time by people they are going to make one but I have yet seen one.

Gum Drop and Tom Boy are right, Bob is not the most efficient mask maker in the world. I have ordered a few things from him, one a few years back, took me about 4 months to get. Now I will say this. Bob did give me every excuse in the book, lol, but he also made it up to me with refunding part of my money. Once I got my Jason bust I couldn't have been any happier it was just the e-mail after e-mail it took to finally get it. I bought a Pamela Voorhees head from him a while back and same story but cut it down to about 2 months, he always has made it good to me but the wait has been the killer. The product though has always been top notch.

So if we are bang this thread on sheer quality and looks I think we have a top grade posble "perfect" piece. If we are bang it on the company that is a different story, which happens to be the case with a lot of other mask makers that seem to not get brought up a lot but are the exact same way. Should it take 3 to 4 months to get a mask after you pay for it? The answer is no, I don't care what you say...

Of course that's me saying it and doesn't apply to anyone else.

Thanks for the info guys. Justin, I hear what you're saying about some other mask makers taking a LONG time as well and their names not being brought up in negative discusons. I have no problem waiting for a quality product, in fact I just waited seven long months for a new score that just arrived this past week. The maker in question is known for his long wait times, but he never fails to respond to an email and is a straight shooter and consummate profesonal all around. The only thing I can't stand is being jerked around, and it sounds to me like Bob is infamous for that. As far as this bust is concerned, I'm not crazy about the paint job, but the sculpt looks pretty good.

We are on the same page Gum Dumpster. As long as you know what you're getting yourself into then I don't see a major problem, I still don't understand how it could posbly take someone that long to make a latex mask (and yes I've made a few) but I also don't understand that pressure these guys are in to produce masve amounts of the same product over and over again. Getting a little off topic here.

Back to Bob, you're exactly right. I was never given a straight answer, only a laundry list of flimsy excuses. If I am told hey look, it's gonna be 3 months until I even get started on this thing at least your up front with me. If you sell me something that looks like it's already made and ready to ship and then you give me excuse after excuse on top of that a lengthy wait, then I have issues.

Communication I think is the key into making a transaction into a potive experience no matter what happens. (cough, Terry Lambert) This does bring up another topic that could be started, does a mask makers buness de of things (not his artistic ability) affect the way a certain piece is perceived? Meaning could you have the Mona Lisa tting in front of you and take marks off liking it mply because Leonardo da Vinci was an ass that never followed through on his word? Interesting question....

Yes folks, this is the type of questions you get here on the midnight shift on HorrorBid. (puts a new record on and takes a p of coffee) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wDDjVPJ73A

Like most others have said, the sculpt itself looks great. I'm with cropsy in thinking that the red could be toned down a bit. Still, a great piece it seems.

HAHAHAHAHAHA... Gum Dumpster.

I think that depending on how bad I wanted the product, I could put up with someone taking forever and giving me tons of excuses as long as I got the product in the end. It's not an ideal tuation of course as we'd all prefer profesonalism... but I think I could deal with it as long as the product was exceptional. Maybe that's just because I'm a fairly patient person.
Myers31TKD Sunday 11/22/2009 at 06:30 PM | 58358
I guess my thing with the wait is I don't mind if I am kept informed but don't jerk me around with lame excusses and all. This is a piece I probably would wait a hell of a long time just because of what it is really but overall I hate to wait more then a few months unless going into it I know the length of time it will be.
cropsy Monday 11/23/2009 at 12:16 AM | 58372
There are people that have still been waiting for an item for over an year. Why put out something new when the're behind on orders...? I would love to own a blank
kaizu Monday 11/23/2009 at 06:11 AM | 58390
I had a bad experience too with Bob. Took much longer and I got excuses a 3rd grader would be embarrased to use. I had to file with Paypal to get my order. Never again. I've read though that he protects his Ebay id and if you order from ebay he ships fast. Otherwise you are screwed. Wait times are fine when you are told upfront. Why is one famous mask maker who deals mostly in Myers allowed to take forever and no one complains?..................Larry
