The great H9 clown mask debate:

I have seen many threads debating which is more accurate The Prop Shop's clown mask or the SSN veron. After putting the de by de with actual stills from the movie that Bisco provided I am not sure there is any doubt. The Prop Shop's mask looks dead on to me, am I misng something?

Yea I have to agree the Prop Shops mask is definately closer to the actual one from the first pic...

Is the red on the SSN one really that much lighter or is it the lighting in which it was photographed? I haven't seen one in person.

yeah I have seen them in person at the conventions. I am not saying they aren't great replicas, Sean does amazing work but the paint is even more florescent in person. I even remember this subject being a hot topic at the convention on which was actually more accurate....

The reason for the red color Fade on SSN is because they are not hand painted.

Casey's are hand painted and there was much debate if the mask in the film was hand painted or not . . . then this nice behind the scenes vid came out and there you have it.

Don't get me wrong, if you own one from SSN than you should be very proud.

Sean's work is incredible but I was tting right next to Casey at a Convention when Sean & Casey talked about how they made and painted these.

first off i love the changes to the forum. as for this debate. i saw it over on mm.net and they went back and forth. i think these comparison pics pretty much kills any idea that the ssn one is dead on.

Looks more pink to me I think...

in that shot Des it really does almost look pink. Whatever color it is it isn't the deep red, it is more of a bright florescent style paint. Casey's are really thick and not bendable while the SSN one is more of the thin plastic you would find if you bought an original old school veron. Not sure how thick the screen used ones were....

great pics Ryan and it does show off the thickness very well too. The SSN veron is not weathered at all either. I think The Prop Shop's looks to be very close to the film used veron. I am wondering if we can get Seth to take some of these same type pics of his SSN veron?

The Prop Shop's is hand painted (like the one shown in the film - based off the behind the scenes vid).

SNN isn't hand painted.

and FYI when i was talking to casey at the bar one night he said he bought the real deal collegeville mask and casted it off that and thus was able to make it more accurate right down to the usa on the bottom that ssn's doesnt have

I have the real deal and the ssn one. If I thought daegg was a cool guy I might buy another but I already have two and thats enough. I love caseys bloody one. I think that one is the shit. I think they are all great looking. I think ssn tried to replicate the real one with the color of paint and it looks dead on. However I think the one on screen looks a little more red like caseys mask.

Both are great but I prefer the paint work on Casey's veron
