Original Myers Mask Question?

Hey guys, when they took the original '75 Kirk mask and sprayed it white did they also make the hair darker? I know the whole back story obviously about ripping the de burns off but the hair appears darker than an original Kirk to me. Did they darken it?

From what I've heard, Tommy Lee Wallace spray painted it with black paint. At least that's what I remember hearing. I could be wrong.

But yes... they definitely painted the hair darker.

yeah it would definitely appear that they darkened it. I never understood the spray paint thing. I remember when we did the Nick Castle interview and he said Tommy Lee Wallace spray painted the mask white, I wish I would have followed up and asked if he meant literally spray painted the mask white with a can or used latex paint. He would almost have had to use latex paint because of canned cracking so bad.

But wouldn't that explain the white rubbing off?

yeah that actually would make sense but from past experience (spray painting the Crapface mask

) it really cracks badly and I think we would have noticed that on the original mask. I dunno, good point though Ballz!

isn't spray paint latex based? like latex paint used for houses?

isn't spray paint latex based? like latex paint used for houses?actually the gallon paint you use for interior walls is called latex paint but it doesn't actually contain any latex (I know it doesn't make sense). They call it that because of its flexibility but it in no way is flexible like the real thing. In fact it would crack really badly too. I think however most spray paint is acrylic based although I could be wrong....

William Malone said that they used a rubber cement to paint the mask white, which is dangerous to breathe around. It also comes off easy, along with all the sweat, oil, and dirt from the person's head/face. Yes, the hair was spray painted black, and by half way through the shoot, it had started to run down the face of the mask.

I would be very happy to hear from the masters that have been around a while to hear what they have to say. .

I heard the hair was sprayed black as well... I believe the reason it looks brown is due to the blond from the kirk and the black from the paint... When they are mixed it would give the illuon that it is brown...

I often wondered why the bottom lip on the mask stuck out like bubba from forest gump on the one de... Very noticeable when myers has the phone in his hand... perhaps it was a toxic pant used and nick wore a painters filter mask over his mouth and nose like a doctor and maybe thats the reason his mouth comes out further... hmmm... maybe I am just talken out my ass???--Ryan

When you look at alot of the production stills of H1 the hair looks very thick as if it were heavily sprayed. By the time they filmed H2 alot of the paint had fallen off. When you watch the final blood tears showdown at the end of H2, watch it in slow motion. Blond hair is very vible.

I often wondered if the same coveralls were used... I only wonder this because the way I understand it, Nick Castle was a short guy and Mr. Warlock was a little taller. Not much, but maybe enough that the coveralls in part 2 looks like he is going to a flood. Ever notice this? It's very noticible when he is walking down the stairs and the camera aims up at him from below. Sure the Coveralls look like they are black in H2, BUT here's a still from H2 with Mr. Warlock holding the Holy Grail of all Holy Grails, The Hero Mask!!! Notice the coveralls are again Spruce Green... See where I am going with this?

It's Odd but he looks like Gerorge Bush in this picture...

Ok and here's another photo of the Hero not too awful long ago... Poor thing...

As for the hair and mask, I know that 99% of the shots looks just like the Original Warlock mask from CGP... Terry is Insane... Crazy sculpting skills... I noticed this as well with the ending of H2...The mask went through pure hell with all the wear and tear. For the most part of the film, his hair looks more brown than blonde, IMO...

ONE more thing... At the end of H2 they do the whole Blood Tears ordeal... Why is the mask not stained from the fake blood? I mean, surely they didn't get it right on every take they did the first time through... So how did they clean it for every reshoot. OR is there Another mask in the woodwork that we just don't know about??? Sure as hell sold me as being the same mask...

For the hair it's more blonde in the back especially the bottom near the neck.I noticed this in the movie. My blond haired Devious mask isn't true Kirk hair but when pictures are taken indoors under normal or darker light it looks brown or reddish like the Hero above. But yes it is more brown nce it probably has paint in it.

I pulled this out of an old thread ↓↓ Just my thoughtsThere was a huge debate on MM net a long time ago! I know most people believe it's the Hero all the way but I think they used 2 masks.

Just my opinions... The close up scenes when the blood starts dripping was filmed on a different day which I believe was the stunt mask stunt mask right hero on the left Bigger eye cuts longer chin. Some say the stunt mask has a longer chin in the B/W because a different person is wearing it. If you look for the scene and still shots when Michael stalks Tommy at the school in H1, The chin is rather long.

The scene or cuts when he starts waving the scalpal is the Hero all the way

This is just my opinon

I heard the Hero had a repaint after the shoot...

Nick Castle is taller than Dick Warlock. The first mask is a khdw and dicks coveralls from h2. The second pic is the hero mask and the gentleman who currently owns it and redes in Ohio and owns a few haunts. The hero mask is small and Castle has a long face. There is no way to wear anything under the mask such as another mask. That is kinda crazy man As far as I know the mask was painted by tlw and converted then carpenter called don post and had the mask touched up during filming because of paint issues. Later they went back to don post to have some masks made for h2....The tramer and a number of hero style masks to be used in stunts and filming the movie. Its rumored people don't know exactly what mask Warlock took with him but all I know is its a screen used myers mask and that in itself
