Costner & Duvall in Open Range

I just got done watching a 4 hour western directed by Kevin Costner staring Bob Duvall and Kevin Costner called Open Range. I caught it on the DVR, never heard of the film. I watched this solely because I am a huge Robert Duvall fan. If your a fan of good acting and a beautifully shot film, watch this movie. I just loved the thing.

It's just so random to catch a movie that you've never heard of and really fall in love with it. Something that doesn't happen enough these days and is just nice when it does...

Anyone else seen this before?

I have it in my DVD collection.

Actually haven't watched it in a few years, but I do really like the movie.

I may have to break it out and watch it again over the weekend.

Maybe I'll make it a Costner western night and watch Wyatt Earp and lverado to.

One of my favs....Ive been high on this film nce it came out. DuVall just may be the best American actor, and the end of the film is amazing, worth the price of admison. When Costner and Duvall are getting ready for the big shoot out...their conversation is priceless! And the shoot out? maybe the BEST Ive seen. Accurately done showing the fuck ups and bad trajectories (and power) of the old guns. Excellent and kudos Booman for giving this movie some cred here.

Guys you're right it's a great film and Evan the fight scene is one of the best and posbly one of the most accurate in western movie history imo. Costner goes from softy to hard ass in the second half of the movie and my wife and I just loved the damn thing. I'm a big Unforgiven fan obviously Tombstone is a fav also but this ranks right up there with them in my book.

I won't ruin it for anyone that hasn't scene it but the dialogue is some of the best I've heard in a western and the part where Conster's character walks up and finishes a guy off is quite posbly the cruliest yet funniest shotting scene nce Indiana Jones shot the sword out of the guys hand in Raiders.

Costner sucks something fierce

(sorry guys, he's such a one dimenonal actor . . I can't stand him). The only Costner movie worth anything is Field of Dreams.

Keanu reeves and Nicholas Cage are graduates of the Kevin Costner school of acting p.s. I've not seen Mr. Brooks yet (which stars Costner) and I actually have always had an interest in seeing it.

Hopefully he doesn't play the same character he plays in EVERY movie he's in.

I agree about Costner, but I do think he made 3 good films: DANCES WITH WOLVES FIELD OF DREAMS OPEN RANGE

Cage used to be one of my favourite actors, he was witty and quirky and sometimes all out insane! VAMPIRE's KISS is a GREAT example of that! LEAVING LAS VEGAS was great too. The past decade has seen him take on shit films just to get paid. He sleep walks through the roles.

The same can be said unfortunately for HARRISON FORD. Until the last Indie, he just seems to mail in his performances.

Aquired this the other week but have yet to watch it. I knew it was going to be a long film but didn't know it was 4 hours long!

the veron I saw was lengthy but nowhere near 4 hours. Maybe that is a directors or special cut that Justin saw?

Evan you're right I checked the run time on USA HD where I watched it at it was 3 hours long. I'm not a long movie lover so for me to make it through it has to really grab my attention and for some reason this picture really did. It really is one of my new all time favorites....

I also wanted to recommend that you Costner fans check out Tin Cup if you haven't already.

It's my favorite Kevin Costner movie, and it has one of my all-time favorite endings in a comedy.
