Anne Hathaway is Catwoman in "The Dark Knight Rises"

Warner Bros has announced that Anne Hathaway has joined the cast of Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises," joining Christian Bale and Tom Hardy (Inception).

The studio went on to reveal that Hardy will play Bane, a man who spent his whole life in prison and was a test subject for a drug that gave him increased strength, although he also became addicted to that drug. The character is a more recent creation (1993) and is best known for a story where he broke Batman's back, leaving the hero a paraplegic.

Hathaway will play Selina Kyle, who is better known as Catwoman. The actress tested for the role in recent weeks, along with Jesca Biel and Keira Knightley.

"The Dark Knight Rises" will begin filming in May, around London and Los Angeles. It is set to hit theaters on July 20th, 2012.

Anne is gorgeous and is an amazing actress. I would have preferred a fresher character than the rehashed Catwoman. The Batman saga has a plethora of ck foes to choose from, why revit another villain.

The idea of catwoman in the nest Batman doesn't sound like that bad of an idea, I always liked the on and off romance between Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne, and the same romance with Catwoman and Batman. As for Bane, well, I do like his character in the comics i just think it might be a little tricky to pull off in this new style of Batman movie, but if anyone can do it Christopher Nolan can.

I'm personaly ck and tired of having to t through some kind of "romance" when I ever go see a movie. I don't care that Batman has "needs" and finds Catwoman hot, or vice versa. Don't get me wrong. I am a fan of a very wide array of film gere. It's not all about action and killing for me, but I want to see Batman doing Batman stuff...not "falling in Love"....again. I'm NOT against going with my girlfriend to see a romance, or romantic comedy where the guy get's the girl in the end. But why does every movie have to have some freaking love interest in itDo I love Hot women

in movies...sure...who doesn't, but cummon this is BATMAN! If I want Love and Romance or Hot chicks I'll go see that kind of movie. I'm sure they will do the same thing to that awful "Spiderman meets Twilight" remake....ugh....pukeNick

I sure hope that I am wrong but i have a feeling that "The Dark Knight Rises" is going to suck. So much about the whole thing feels a little off to me. I don't care much for the title. The word rises just doesn't t well with me. But then again what is in a name? Catwoman is a good character to have in there to make things complicated but the focus needs to be on the main villain. In this case they are going with Bane. We have already seen how not to use Bane when he was in "Batman and Robin". I hope that it goes without saying that Nolan will not repeat that mistake. But the choice of ung Bane still presents a problem. How does Nolan depict this character in the semi-realistic world in which his batman films exist? In the comics Bane has been transformed through the use of an exotic super steroid or chemical that enhanced his already tough prison hardened form to superhuman levels. Plus the character is supposed to be very intelligent. So I think Bane should be two or three times the ze of Batman. No no offense to Tom Hardy but I don't think that he is three times the ze of Christian Bale. And because Nolan will likely not depict Bane as a Hulk zed character in this film will have to compromise on that point. I think Tom hardy can more than handle all other aspects of this character. But Nolan and all involved in this film have there work cut out for them in selling this. Because keep in mind that Bane is supposed to be so strong that he can manhandle Batman like he is a rag doll. I hope they pull this off but I won't believe it till I see it.
