Hurrican Ike reeking havoc!

Hey guys just wanted to let you guys know we most likely will be without power for quite a while. Fenner and I live in Southern Indiana and and Ike is still so powerful (tropical storm force winds of near 75 mph) that trees are down everywhere, roads are closed, my next door neighbor is misng his roof and a house that I am staring at outde my window is misng over half of the ding off its back.

We are told this will last until around 8pm tonight. Just wanted to touch base with everyone before the power goes as Fenner has already lost it and over half of everyone else in our town is without power.

Later all, J

bunker down. I use to live in Alabama and I know what your going through. Right when you think the winds should die down they kick back up. Best thing to do is stay put and get those candles ready.

Thats freaking nuts man. I hope you guys are safe! You all need to move to cali! I don't think I could live somewhere that my roof could be blown off. The three little pigs used to scare me when I was about 3 or so.

We could all buy a manon and horrorbid head quarters.

that is insane that it is still that strong that far inland but that was a HUGE storm. 75 mph winds are strong enough to cause major damage. Hopefully it will pass with no damage to your houses.

well a LOT of damage around here fortunately camp BooMan held in there pretty good. Fenner however is without power and trees laying everywhere in his yard luckily none through the house. The whole town is pretty much without power and is in a state of emergency. Surveying some of the damage on the way back to our house it is incredible the force this storm still had this many miles away from shore.

Thanks all, Justin

good to hear that everyone is okay Justin. You have gotten just a small taste of what it is like to live on the gulf coast.....we have dealt with that exact same scenario...three times now i think....just this year alone.

take care, Tommy

Here in Ohio we got hit at around the same time as you on Sunday.

I've never seen winds like that in my life.

I can't imagine what that thing must have been like as it made landfall.

Good to hear everything is alright.

Well at least I've got power back (took about 24 hours) however there are still people in our town without power and all across southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky.

There were about 375,000 thousand in total without power in our area on Sunday.

They are now saying those people might not get power for another 14 days.

Worst of all, they are all in the hotels but the "RYDER CUP" is being held here and all those people are going to be put out for those who made reservations for the big golfing event.

I still don't have internet (I'm ung my parents) but this makes me only feel for everybody in Texas that much more.

Not only did they loose power . .. but pretty much lost everything.

Lost their homes and even jobs.

We had 75 mph winds (which was insane) but I can't imagine 125-150 they had down south.

So don't worry about us here in the mid west (we'll survive) but keep all those in Texas and Alabama in your thoughts.
