THE SWINE FLU????

DAMNIT NOT ANOTHER ONE!!!! Have you guys heard about this. People being infected by it and schools clong down, etc. I am sure we will get a few swine goof pictures in this thread but it is a bit scary at the same time.hell I'll start it off...

You're right. We have untill now about 100 people who could be with the disease. If you think about the past diseases you can go nuts.

Before jumping on the panic bandwagon people might want to conder that regular seasonal influenza has killed approx 800 people in the US per week from the beginning of January through April 19th of this year. Each year it causes approx 36,000 deaths in the US and up to 500,000 worldwide.

I haven't heard about this as I never watch the news or read newspapers. Either way, I couldn't care less.

The war in Iraq isn't producing any news lately, everyone's ck of hearing about the economy, and there aren't any major natural disasters looming on the horizon, so the mainstream media needed something new to create a panic . . . enter Swine Flu!

West Nile Virus....Avian/Bird flu...now the "swine" flu. The media loves to scare people. As Lee mentioned the flu kills hundreds to thousands of people every year in North America. At the height of flu season thousands of people are infected by the same viral strain.

I live in Queens very near the school that was shut down but the local health authorities have already down-graded the threat severely. It is another variation of the "common flu". meanwhile the aisles with hand cleansers and dinfection sprays at every local Rite Aid and Walgreens are empty.

One thing I have heard that is scaring some "experts" is that this flu outbreak is happening in the spring/early summer, when the flu virus is normally dormant.

If left unchecked, this strain could be pretty bad by fall and winter.
